UPDATE: Some tweaks. In her face!! UPDATE 2: Okay I got that she doesn't look like a girl. And I'll work on it. UPDATE 3: Now I think I got her look kinda right.
Hey people! I've finally managed to finish my entry for the Tomb Raider Contest!
The idea behind the illustration is a sort of "turning point", where she have to give up some of her principles, in order to survive. As if she have already spent some days in the island and figured out that eating coconuts all day wouldn't save her.
Also, this is where Lara stops feeling she's beaten, and starts making her own way to adapt to the harsh, unknown environment, since the game shows the "human" side of Lara, prior to the "fearless" and "badass" time of her life.
I was also thinking about calling the piece "Human after all", "what do you guys think?
As usual, sketching on paper, completely colored on Painter 12 and tweaking in Photoshop. It was a great great opportunity to learn some techniques and making new brushes, I think it kinda paid off.
I hope you'll enjoy it, and good luck to all entrants!!!
It's not the face!!! The neck doesn't look like its attached to the head. If u can crop the head, move it over to the right and drop it down a little lower and that will help in my opinion..
That's wonderfull! About the head, I don't know if the eyes are too hight or the mouth is too big. I suggest you to consult the face's proportion in the Andrew Loomis's books. Here the free version [link] or [link]. This website is also: interesting [link].
Thanks for having the time for a feedback!
